A Modern Marvel

I knit an incredibly cool and complicated thing. I am pretty proud of myself.

It's this crazy, fair isle, steeked, tiny baby cardigan knit on size one needles.

I started it on March 11 as part of my 11 Sweaters in 2011 challenge, and with lots of love and excitement and joy for a baby boy who is growing as we speak (he is currently the size of a 6" Subway sub). He will arrive to some dear friends of ours this September, making him a Virgo like myself and some other stellar folks. I finished sewing the silver buttons on the finished sweater on April 10.

The pattern is 8101-4 Setesdal Baby/Children's Set from Dale of Norway and it's knit in Dalegarn Baby Ull. When I started it, Baby A's gender was unknown, and I think the black and white will look super classy on him.

Part of knitting this sweater included CUTTING IT OPEN for the fronts and sleeves, after pre-sewing along the cut lines to prevent unraveling. It was very, very scary.

As you can see by the modeling from the lovely Baby Ivy (another rad person-in-training with whom I am acquainted), the sweater is 6-9 month old size, hopefully baby can wear it for a while. Thanks for not spitting up during the photo session, Baby Ivy!

I'm still amazed by my work. Gotta say, there's already a lot of love for Baby A. Lucky baby!
